Lisa Scalpone, Vice President of Broadband, is responsible for ViaSat’s consumer internet business sold under the Exede and WildBlue brands.
Ms. Scalpone joined WildBlue when it was a start-up company in 2000, and has been with the company through its acquisition by ViaSat to its present status as a leading satellite broadband provider, serving almost 700,000 customers across the U.S. The Exede service and the ViaSat-1 satellite have won numerous awards, including the Popular Science Best of What’s New. In 2013 and 2014, Exede received the FCC’s highest ranking for delivering on advertised speeds. ViaSat’s consumer business unit has about 450 employees and provides service to all 50 states and northern Mexico.
Ms. Scalpone’s industry activities have raised the profile of satellite broadband in both Colorado and at the federal level. In 2014, she was appointed by the Colorado Governor to the State’s Broadband Deployment Board. She has represented the satellite broadband industry in numerous public forums, including the FCC’s USF Workshop in Omaha in May 2011, the NARUC Summer Conference in July 2011, NTIA Public Meetings in March 2009 and on the National League of Cities TV Town Hall program.
Ms. Scalpone spoke on net neutrality at the Telecommunications Law conference in Denver in December 2009. In 2009 and 2011, she was a featured panelist at CTP programs discussing 4G – The Next Generation of Wireless Technology and the Future of Communications. She has also appeared on RFD-TV and Lifetime representing ViaSat.
Prior to her work for ViaSat and WildBlue, she practiced antitrust and corporate law with McDermott, Will & Emery and clerked for a federal judge in Chicago.
She graduated with a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago School
