Leader Series: VP Janet Gipson

Join us for our continuation of the DISH Women’s Network Leader Series! We are thrilled to host DISH Exec Janet Gipson. Janet is VP of DISH Technologies Sales and Marketing. In this capacity, Ms. Gipson is responsible for consumer grand marketing as well as sales relating to various direct-to-consumer and B2B products. Ms. Gipson has been with DISH since 2000, first working with the DISH Network Business Solutions before moving into business development, where she held titles of Senior Program Manager and Director, a role that she presided over for eight years. In 2013, Ms. Gipson began heading the Sales and Marketing team, starting with the title of Senior Director before being promoted to Vice President shortly thereafter. Prior to joining DISH, Ms. Gipson worked in engineering roles for the United States Army and Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia. Ms. Gipson holds and MBA from the College of William and Mary and Bachelor of Science degrees for mechanical engineering and mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Spelman College, respectively.

About Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne:

The Lieutenant Governor serves as the state’s second highest-ranking elected or appointed official in the executive branch. In her dual role as the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Operating Officer, Donna Lynne engages in all aspects of state leadership, including the development and execution of policy, legislation, operations, and the budget. Lieutenant Governor Lynne acts as the chair for multiple commissions and programs, such as the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs, Colorado Space Coalition, the Early Childhood Leadership Commission and the Governor’s Commission on Community Service. The Lt. Governor’s Office also oversees the Colorado State Innovation Model and the Office of eHealth Innovation.

Prior to assuming her roles in Colorado state government, Dr. Lynne served as the executive vice president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and as group president responsible for its Colorado, Pacific Northwest and Hawaii

Education Series: Communicating Through Generations

As history unfolds, our society passes milestones that shape us—our experience growing up is drastically different than that of our parents. At DISH, we have a diverse group of people of all ages with a variety of life experiences. This short training will discuss what defines each generation (Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Millennials) and how we can leverage these differences to work more effectively with our colleagues.

Lean In Circle – Pilot Program

We’re excited to announce that we will be launching a Lean In Circle pilot program through the DISH Women’s Network. This pilot program will have 3 circles with 10 members each and will meet once per month for 3 months (April through June). Based on the outcome of the circles, we will establish how to best roll this out for the entire Network.

Education Series: BEST – Presentation Skills

The DISH Women’s Network is committed to empowering our members through networking and career development. Based on your feedback, our members want more resources to sharpen their skills and further their careers. We are excited to announce a new training initiative you will see throughout this year! We will be offering professional development courses and workshops on presentation and public speaking skills, effective communication techniques, and much more!

Our first training, delivered by Sales Training & Support, will be on Tuesday, March 28th and focus on honing your presentation skills. The training will be from 8:30am—4:00pm in Training Room 3.

Prior to registering, please obtain your manager’s permission to do so.

Please come with a presentation that you have given in the past year, or an idea/concept of a presentation you will give this year. We will be referencing and building upon your idea throughout the training, and you will walk away with a next-level presentation!

Special Screening: Hidden Figures


It’s our pleasure to announce a special full-feature screening of the Oscar-nominated film, Hidden Figures, presented by FOX. This screening is a FREE event for DISH Women’s Network members.

Doors open at 6PM, and the screening will begin at 6:30PM on Thursday, February 23rd at the UA Park Meadows Theater (just 8 minutes from the office). Please confirm your availability before responding to this invite as the theater has limited seats.

In her role at Liberty Media, Robin is responsible for identifying investment opportunities in the media, technology and eCommerce arenas, oversight of Liberty portfolio companies and assisting in the business development efforts of the portfolio companies.  Robin currently serves on the Board of Directors of FTD Companies, Inc. and Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc., several private companies and served on the Board of Directors of SiriusXM.  In addition, she co-founded and helps lead the Women’s eCommerce Network, a program whose mission is to unite female leaders in eCommerce, media and technology and provide an opportunity for promising female entrepreneurs to enhance and improve their businesses.
